Leland Silliman

American author born in New York in 1906. He was much involved in boy's athletics and swimming, and was a swimming coach and camp director in the war years. His children's books were likewise aimed mainly at boys and featuring stereotypical  'boyish' activities such as baseball, American football and camping, etc. He wrote a short horse series of the 'ranching' type which was likewise aimed at boys but no doubt enjoyed by many girls too! As far as I know this was his only foray into equine territory.
